Full Inventory of Sporting Goods Prior to Moving to New Distribution Centre
A sporting goods retailer that sells an assortment of products, including shoes and apparel for a large variety sports activities, required the support of RGIS. The retailer has over 1,150 retail stores employing over 76,000 people.
REQUIREMENT
The sporting goods retailer needed an accurate inventory count of the distribution centres in preparation of moving all the stock to a new larger distribution centre, so required RGIS to provide the following:
- A full count of all inventory
- Segregate items to aid organisation of moving inventory to a new distribution centre
- All items needed to be counted within a 21 day period
- High accuracy of stocktake was a priority
SOLUTION
The sporting goods retailer partnered with RGIS to complete the distribution centre inventory move project, and provided the following:
- Scheduled a team of four experienced RGIS auditors
- All items were counted, segregated and coded
- 25% of stock items were checked for accuracy
RESULTS
The sporting goods retailer found that by outsourcing the distribution centre inventory move project to RGIS, the following results were achieved:
- All items were segregated dependent on the new location
- Stock accuracy levels were high
- Full count completed within the tight timeframe given
